As part of our 2019/20 Coaching and Mentoring offer for our NHS North West Leadership Academy (NHS NWLA) members we are offering Executive Coaching Support access from quality assured coaches on our dedicated Coaching Hub or for professional coaching relationships that may be already underway.
We are aware of the many changes facing our most senior leaders and want to offer support and some head space; to allow them to explore the additional opportunities and challenges these changes bring. Through conversations with our board and governing body colleagues, the NHS NWLA understands the complex and changing environment within which our senior leaders are currently operating. In a recent survey to executive level colleagues, the NHS NWLA found that one to one support such as coaching, can be a useful opportunity to senior leaders offering a focused and confidential developmental space. This one to one focused and bespoke relationship is often perceived as the most effective development intervention that a senior leader in the NHS can access; for further information around the impact and value of coaching please see our Coaching Hub page.
There are three external executive coaching support places available for each of our member organisations. This is for two key individuals from your organisation's board or governing body and one chief executive or clinical accountable officer role. For each place we will fund three coaching sessions with an individual’s existing coach (within a finite resource) or we can work with you to identify a suitable coach from our Quality Assured external executive profiles on the NHS NWLA Coaching Hub.
If your organisation falls outside of the traditional NHS NWLA membership structure (e.g. Integrated Care Partnerships/Systems or similar) and you are interested in this offer for executive colleagues, please contact us to discuss this further.
How do I request support?
It may be useful for organisations to discuss internally how they would like to prioritise the use of available places.
To then request one of the available places for your organisation, please click here to open the online application and complete the required information.
A member of the NHS NWLA Coaching and Mentoring team will then be in touch to confirm details and initiate the next steps. If you have any queries please see our frequently asked questions below or get in touch with us at email@example.com.
Who in my organisation can access this? How do I know if there are any places left?
There are three external executive coaching support places available for each of our member organisations. This is for two key individuals from your organisation's board or governing body and one chief executive or clinical accountable officer role. If you are unsure if your organisation's places have been used please don’t hesitate to get in touch and check with us and we can share non-identifiable numbers of places currently remaining for your member organisation.
I already have an external coach I am in a coaching relationship with, can the funding be used for my ongoing sessions?
Yes. The funding can be made available to support existing coaching relationships.
I don’t have an existing coaching relationship, am I still able to access this?
Yes. On the NHS NWLA Coaching Hub we have a number of Quality Assured External Executive Coaches. Once funding is confirmed you will be able to register onto the system and explore which coach you would like to take this forward with.
How much support can I access through the offer?
Each individual can access up to a maximum of three sessions of funded coaching funded within a finite resource. This amount will also include any expenses associated with the coaching relationship.
Is there any paperwork?
Once the funding is finalised and your coach confirmed you will be required to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which will detail the use of the funding and your commitment to the process. In the spirit of continuous improvement and understanding the impact of support such as this, we may also ask you for some feedback following your coaching relationship.
How is the funding transferred?
Once the MoU has been signed by your organisation and returned to the NHS NWLA we will then provide a purchase order number and request an invoice for the agreed amount to release the funding for delivery of this offer. This will enable the funding to sit centrally within your organisation so that direct contact, arrangements and invoicing can sit between yourself and your coach.
