Mentoring Scheme

Why we’re here

Mentoring is when an individual provides support and guidance to someone in a particular area to help them with their career or professional development. Mentoring is that extra support that everyone can benefit from.  As well as helping the mentee develop and advance through their career, the mentor can build on their own skills and gain new understanding from the partnership.

Why become a Mentor?

- Are you interested in your own development and learning?

- Are you a good listener?

- Are you self-critical, reflective and curious?

Mentoring is for you!

You will need to attend a Mentor Development Day in order to learn more about the skills involved in mentoring, the model we promote and some of the tools you can use with a mentee. You will also get an introduction to MentorNet, our bespoke online matching database. It enables our members to manage their mentoring online, at their own pace.

Complete your registration and choose your mentor development day by clicking the link at the top of the page.

Why become a Mentee?

Mentoring is about getting support for your own learning and development wherever you are in your career. Working with a mentor will create a greater self-awareness of your unique talents and also identify some gaps in your current skills set. Using reflection you will learn what works best for you now and in the future, along with suggestions that can widen your horizons and narrow your actions.

It doesn’t matter what you do or where you’re from, having a mentor from a different organisation and professional background can facilitate new ways of working by broadening your horizons through sharing experiences.

Complete your registration as a mentee by clicking the link at the top of the page.

Why become a Coaching and Mentoring Champion?

As a Coaching and Mentoring Champion you will become a part of a network who are involved in influencing the future North West’s approach to coaching and mentoring whilst supporting this agenda in your locality. The Champion’s role is key for communication with all coaches, coachees, mentors and mentees in our scheme.

We have also commissioned specific CPD opportunities for our Champions to access based on learning needs and areas of developments for the Champions role.

Training sessions for this are being run throughout the year. Please contact nwla.coachingandmentoring@nhs.net for further information.
